The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT),a national level entrance test, is administered by the Consortium of National Law Universities in India for admission to undergraduate and post graduate law programmes in India , CLAT exam is the basis for admission to affiliated colleges and organizations. For the Academic Year 2025–2026, all admissions to the 5year integrated LL.B. and LL.M. programs must be made through the CLAT 2025.
The applications have to be submitted from 15 th July 2024 to 15 th October 2024
when will CLAT 2025 be held?
CLAT 2025 exam date:
CLAT UG and PG Exam will be held on 1 st December 2024 from 2 PM to 4 PM
- examination will be held in OFFLINE mode

CLAT 2025 Eligibility
The Undergraduate (“UG”) CLAT 2025
- A pass in 10+2 or equivalent examination .Candidates who may be appearing for their qualifying examination in March/ April, 2025 are also eligible to appear for the CLAT.
- For General/OBC/PWD/NRI/PIO/OCI categories: minimum Forty-Five percent (45%) marks.
- For SC/ST categories: minimum forty (40%) marks.
CLAT 2025 Application fee
- General/OBC/PWD/NRI candidates: Rs.4,000/-
- SC/ST/BPL category candidates: Rs.3,500/-
CLAT 2025 Exam Syllabus
- CLAT 2025 UG, the cost of previous years’ question papers is Rs.500/-
To evaluate the comprehension and reasoning skills and abilities of candidates, there shall be a 2-hour test, with 120 multiple-choice questions carrying 1 mark each and deduction of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer.
These questions would be divided across the following 5 subjects: English Language, Current Affairs Including General Knowledge, Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Techniques.
English Language (weightage: 20 %)
In this section of the UG-CLAT 2024,
A Paragraph of around 450 words derived from contemporary or historically significant fiction and non-fiction writing You have to demonstrate your comprehension and language skills, including your abilities to:
- Summarize the passage
- Understand the meaning of various words and phrases used in the passage
- Read and comprehend the main points and comparison of arguments and viewpoints
- Draw inferences and conclusion
Current Affairs Including General Knowledge (weightage: 25 %)
A Paragraph of around 450 words derived from news, journalistic sources and other non-fiction writing will be provided to demonstrate your awareness of various aspects of current affairs and general knowledge, including:
- Contemporary events of significance from India and the world
- Arts and culture
- International affairs and Historical events of continuing significance.
Legal Reasoning (weightage: 25 %)
A Paragraph of around 450 words related to legal matters, public policy questions or moral philosophical enquiries will be provided. By applying general principles or propositions to the given fact scenarios, you have to answer the following questions without any prior knowledge of law.
- Identify and infer the rules and principles set out in the passage
- Apply such rules and principles to various fact situations
- Understand how changes to the rules or principles may alter their application to various fact situations.
Logical Reasoning (weightage: 20 %)
A paragraph with about 300 word will be provided and will ask you to:
Read the passage and note the points made there. Evaluate the potential reliance of conclusions on specific premises or supporting evidence by critically analyzing patterns of reasoning, apply the inferences you get from the passage to new circumstances. Make connections and parallels, look for inconsistencies and equivalences, and rate the persuasiveness of arguments.
Quantitative Technique (weightage: 10 %)
The Quantitative Techniques consists of short sets of facts or propositions, graphs, or other textual, pictorial or diagrammatic representations of numerical information,
To answer the questions, you must: Derive, infer, and manipulate numerical information presented in such sections, graphs, or other representations. Increase your ability to respond quickly to problems involving quantitative procedures by practicing with resources such textbooks for 10th-grade mathematics, from topics like proportions and ratios, elementary algebra, gauging, and statistical estimate.

Constitutional Law, Jurisprudence, Administrative Law, Law of Contract, Torts, Family Law, Criminal Law, Property Law, Company Law, Public International Law, Tax Law, Environmental Law, and Labour & Industrial Law
Refresh your knowledge of significant constitutional and statutory provisions, especially those that may have come up in recent rulings. It would also be beneficial to make sure you are aware of prior case law and amendments that have been made in connection with these provisions so that you have a full understanding of these provisions and the issues they raise.
Objective Section:
There will be a paragraph from fundamental legal texts, such as significant court rulings in various legal areas, statutes, or regulations. The ability to read and comprehend the problems, justifications, and points of view covered in the paragraph will need to be demonstrated by the candidates. Knowledge of the topics covered, as well as of the legal concerns, facts, and implications of the text, as well as the ruling or law from which it is taken.
